Kammermusik Workshops, Inc, has some limited funds available to provide scholarships for participants in the Kammermusik Workshops to be held in 2007. If a scholarship would enable you to attend a workshop, Kammermusik Workshops encourages you to apply for a scholarship. Please do not apply for a scholarship if you can afford to attend a workshop without one, since this may deprive another person of the opportunity to attend a workshop.

Scholarship Selection Criteria

The purpose of the scholarships is to provide financial assistance to those individuals who would not otherwise be able to attend a workshop without financial assistance. In providing financial assistance, the primary focus is to ensure an appropriate instrumental balance at each Kammermusik Workshop, which improves the experience of all workshop participants. A secondary focus is to provide support to individuals who could not otherwise attend workshops and whose attendance at a workshop will benefit the contribution of the individuals to their home community musical groups.

The criteria for scholarship awards include:

1. Financial need

2. Contribution to the workshop in terms of the balance of the instruments needed at the particular workshop for which the participant has applied

3. Benefit to the participant’s contribution to his/her home community musical groups

Scholarship Application

1. Register for the Workshop that you wish to attend in the usual way.

2. Check the box on the application that asks if you are applying for a scholarship.

3. Send an email message to the Kammermusik Workshops President with information supporting your application, including a general statement of your reason for needing the financial assistance, a brief description of your musical education and experience on your instrument and in playing chamber music, and a brief statement about your participation in music groups in your home community.

The closing date for applications for the February 2009 Workshop is September 30, 2008 and for the July 2009 Workshop will be March 1, 2009. Scholarship award decisions will be made within a few days of these deadlines. Scholarships may continue to be available after these dates if funds permit. If you are interested in attending a workshop, need financial assistance and have missed these dates, please send an email message to the President to inquire about continued availability of scholarship funds.

Scholarship Awards and Confidentiality

The award of a scholarship will be determined by a committee of the Kammermusik Workshops Board of Directors, including the President, Treasurer and another Director.

All applications for and award of scholarships will be confidential and shall not be disclosed to any person who is not a member of the Kammermusik Workshops Board of Directors.
