KMW Self-grading test

The test is conducted as a questionnaire. There is no resulting score or grade, since we shall look at different aspects for different purposes.

Before starting the survey you should download the music extract for your instrument: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn. Be patient, as these are PDF files about 300 KB in size and will take 10 minutes or so to download on a phone connection. There are three extracts, labeled A, B and C. The questions ask how you would be able to play them in an ensemble at the stated speed, and separates the notes and the rhythms. If you know the pieces already, try to answer them as if you were playing a piece of comparable difficulty for the first time. Of course we don't expect 100% perfection; we are just trying to ensure that we group comparable players together and choose appropriate pieces for each group.

You can look at this at any any time and even go back and edit your answers in a subsequent session. Once you submit the survey by clicking on"Done>>" on the last page, the results are "frozen".

One of the questions on the survey asks if you intend to submit a recording of your playing, or to provide a reference from a teacher. Neither of these is essential, but it could help both us and you. If you would like to send a recording, please email the president for more details.
